Daily Challenge

Posted at 9:03 am on Jan 11, 10 by Michael Hearn.

The other day Tiffany and I were watching a movie and something happened that made Tiffany laugh. This was not just any laugh but a gut wrenching belly laugh. I looked over at her a could not help but smile and laugh at the fact that she was laughing so hard. The scriptures teach us that a merry heart does good like a medicine. When was the last time you laughed with your spouse? Sometime today laugh together, it will do your heart well!

This is a recent article by a man named Mark Gungor. It speaks directly to the importance of marriage, the devastation of divorce, and the role the church can play in holding marriages accountable for the covenant they make.

Eyes

Posted at 8:49 am on Oct 12, 09 by Michael Hearn.

Have you ever had a day, week, month, or even year when there were so many crazy things going on around you, that you forgot who you are and what God has called you to do? Sometimes in life we tend to focus on everything around us and miss the very thing in front of us that God intended for us to see.
This morning in my quite time God reminded me that if I truly abide in Him (John 15) my eyes will not only see what He desires, but my heart will be content in what He has for me. This morning I encourage you to stop and see what it is that God is doing in your life and then no matter where you are at, to be content in His Hand!

Anniversary

Posted at 6:50 am on Oct 8, 09 by Michael Hearn.

Tiffany and I just returned from celebrating our tenth anniversary. It is amazing to me how fast these last ten years have gone by. When we first were married I thought I knew what love was, but over the years the love that we have developed is much richer and fuller than I could have ever imagined. The journey that we have embarked on together has tooled our relationship in such a way that she truly is my best friend. When a married couple places God in the center of their lives there is no limit to the abundance a marriage can have. I pray that if you are reading this little note that you will take the time to tell your spouse how much you love and appreciate them today!

Morning Manna

Posted at 4:21 pm on Sep 15, 09 by Michael Hearn.

Last Thursday morning at 6:00 Valley View started a men’s study called Morning Manna. The material is based of the series “The Quest for Authentic Manhood.” The cost of this study is $20.00 for the fall semester and a light breakfast will be served each week. The latest statistics state that when a child accepts Christ as their Savior there is a twenty percent chance that the family will follow. When the mother accepts Christ first, there is a twenty-nine percent chance the family will follow. However, when the father accepts Christ there is a ninety-five percent chance the family will follow in his stead. The man in the home has tremendous influence over his family. This new series will help teach us, men, how to be the Biblical Men of God the Bible desires us to be.

Gary Chapman

Posted at 12:00 am on Aug 1, 09 by Michael Hearn.

Today is the big day Dr. Gary Chapman, author of The Five Love Languages, will be speaking at Valley View Church’s Towards A Growing Marriage Conference. We are so excited to see what God is going to do in our community as God continues to build strong marriages. After meeting with Dr. Chapman this Friday evening I am glad to say that he is the real deal. His heart for people and marriages is contagious. His passion for ministry is apparent and his love for God is evident. I am so pleased to have him speak to the married couples of the Louisville and the surrounding areas.

The Big Revelation

Posted at 10:25 am on Jul 30, 09 by Michael Hearn.

It occurred to me the other day that my two boys (9 and 7) think I am old. As I was walking through the halls at church, several of our boys’ friends said “Hello Mr. Hearn” to which I replied, a cool, “what’s up?” Just then my eldest son, Trey, started talking to a friend.  When I turned to look at his friend a cold blank stare was written all over his face. After I joked around for a second with the young man I told Trey to come with me and asked him why his friend would not talk with me? Trey replied…

Even if you are thinking “my marriage is great, I don’t need to go to a marriage conference” we recommend you reconsider. Every marriage can grow and get better! Don’t delay register now and we will see you there…
